Offered & have cheque for £381.50

Has anyone who has rejected the first offer made by A&L received an improved second offer prior to continuing with the court process. Don't want to accept the £381 although at the moment the money would come in handy. Thinking of informing them I am accepting the cheque as a part payment under the condition that I reserve the right to pursue my claim for the outstanding £647

From what I read here A & L certainly seem to be offering very low amounts in the hope people will take it.

Have also been given the c**p about 'paid item charges' only being included and all other charges disregarded. Don't know where they stand legally on this. I was told it was a company policy they had introduced but surely they must be governed in some way.

I am writing to them next week to see if they are willing to negotiate to a figure I am happy with for an out of court settlement.

Good luck to everyone with their claims

Unfortunately A&L do not negotiate. If you do not accept their offer it is straight off to court! All the offers, with the odd exception, seem to be very low. Everyone gets the same standard letter you got about the "paid item charges"...wish it was different. Good luck with your decision...

Have just been looking through the success stories, there have not been many from A&L over the last few days, what are they playing at?Are they waiting for a judgement by the OFT or are they just waiting for us all to give up?Any ideas anyone, please post successes if you have them, it would be reassuring to folk awaiting court.

  • Hi I am reclaiming bank charges of £275 from allaince and leicester. I have reached the stage where i sent the letter threatening court proceedings if i do not get my money back (the more millitant template). I received a response saying that they will let me know of there response and sent me another complaint leaflet. It has been a month now. Is this another way of palming me off? I dont really want to take them to court because of funds. Is it too late to try to get 75% of them back or is it too late? Should i take them to court? Any ideas?

A&L will only offer ridiculously small amounts as "good will" payments, based on the Paid Item charges only and the difference between £12 (OFT recommended credit card charge) and what they have actually charged us.

If court proceedings have been started, it's recommended that cheques are returned with a rejection letter and we hold on for the full amount we're due. They're playing for time and using every trick in the book to stall and frighten people into discontinuing their claims ... DON'T! A&L are paying out prior to court proceedings being started, but normally only amounts under £500. They have however very recently I believe paid out £3k+ to someone before court, though their success story is not recorded on this forum.

I'm waiting for a court date myself (imminent) ... it'll be interesting to see how they play it.
    Wins since 2009 = £17,600

    MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS
