Hello,
I would like to ask if you have experience with booking hire car in USA via Ebookers.
We are looking for Ford Escape from LAX to San Francisco for 8 days and Ebookers Alamo quote is £202 uincluding add driver and full tank.
This is £20 cheaper than Netflights.

What do you think, is Ebookers good option? Loads of people sugest Netflights or Usrentacar, however I found those to be more expensive (£20-£50 more).

Also Alamo does not have Third Party liability listed in insurance covered, is it important cover to have?
Best wins ever:
2012: Holiday to LA for 2 adults +2 kids for 4 days
2013: £2 000 Virgin Holiday Voucher!
2014: $1000 spending money for hols
2015: 8 night holiday to Thailand

  • Why not try auto-europe.co.uk and see what they have to offer too! I think they are the cheapest in car hire market

auto-europe! HAHA!!! That made me laugh :)
While getting a quote with them, try Stavros kebab and car hire, am sure there quote will come in just as high as auto-europe! but you get a free kebab though ! :D:D

All i can say is, i got my 3 hires with Dollar, via netflights and usrentacar... Have used both many times in the past, i have no excess, and always have my fuel pre-paid, and always get the best rates (granted that usrentacar sometimes come in a few pounds more, but there service in terms of dealing with an issue is good).....
netflights = good for shorter rentals
usrentacar = good for longer rentals....

Yes it's vital. If you have a bad enough accident you'll get sued for millions of $$$. You need the top up cover as well as the standard.

Whether it's there and not mentioned or not there at all is a different question - pass.
  • Ok, as Alamo does not have Third Party liability listed there and also does not have car we want, I will book with Dollar.

Has anybody booked hire car with Ebookers before? Any experience?

    What cover do you want?
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.

Well want all the cover we need in US, CDW and all that.

Just wondered if anybody used Ebookers, people usualy mention Netflights(their car hire tool on web did not work for 2 weeks, told them about it, did not fix it so got fed up with them) and Usrentacar (they do not charge at time of booking, which is what I want, so will not use them)

I didnt know that, isnt there an option to pay the full amount? but what difference does it make if you just pay a deposit and pay balance further down line?

    CH3000 is another option

Well I just wanted to kind of spread the cost in each month before holiday, so it's not such hit all in one month..
Anyway, it looks that nobody here used Ebookers for car hire..

  • Safest option is Full CDW and SLI (Supplementary Liability Insurance). You can get these separately yourself if you google something like 'car hire excess insurance'.

This is America we're talking about, don't scrimp on insurance.
    .....

  • Try https://www.rhinocarhire.com for a competitive quote, I have used them a few times. They have a 5% discount offer at the moment, if you 'like' them on Facebook, expires on 21st Feb I think ... could be a nice saving to make
