No mention of bankruptcy on credit file or most of my debts?

My experian credit file is utterly incomplete, with most of my debt not showing.
How do I obtain my actual credit score as a number?

  • Credit scores are irrelavant....half the time its a number they pluck from the air

are you looking at the online bits of the file or a paper version??...I found the paper ones contained far more info

Sounds like your report does not include all the data we hold for some reason. Raise a query on our website and we'll look into it. Might be missing addresses or a discrepancy with how one of your addresses is recorded.

  • Why should I raise this???? Clearly its to my benefit not to have this rectified?! Plus the credit agencies have a statutory obligation to keep my file up to date!

because although it may not be within the information you received [based upon the information you provided], that does not mean to say your creditors are not 'visible' to anyone doing a search.

Neither is it compulsory for creditors to post information with a Credit Reference Agency.

In my case, I suspect some 'missing' information may lie under either a very old address [14-plus years back]....or either my present, or previous, address under another format...
[In both cases, the Post Office address format, and the Electoral [and local authority] address format are slightly different.]

    Regarding 'credit scores?'

This is not something generated or provided by the Credit Reference Agencies as such.

As they state in their guides, individual companies create their own credit scoring systems, based upon information they themselves deem pertinent [but probably obtained from the CRF's].

  • I provided all my previous addresses.
I find it alarming that info might be held, and that it isnt given when you ask for it. Should I be pursuing a freedom of information request?!

But the CRA rep has just said it may be something as simple as one of your addresses being listed slightly differently, and has told you how to resolve this.

I can't see what use an FoI request would be. You're bankrupt, same as many of us are or have been. Your credit file needs cleaning up over the next few years and you've just been told how to they will help you get all the info.

I don't mean to hit a nerve, but surely as anyone who has been bankrupt knows, it's much better to be thorough and gets things tidied up, than whistle, walk off, and hope it goes away.
