O2 Internet settings
Options
My dad has had a iphone for about a year now but has bought a HTC sim free as he prefers it. So he has put his O2 iphone sim in his data.
But what are the correct 02 internet settings for his HTC? It seems like that o2 iphone and normal o2 tariffs have different internet settings, http://shop.o2.co.uk/update/datasettings.html
Does he enter the iphone settings as he is on a iphone tariff?

I think the best thing to do would be phone o2 and change to a normal tariff with standard data as the iPhone tariffs are provisioned to use the iPhone settings, though I'm not sure if those work on other smartphones?0

He tried switching to a normal tariff but o2 did not let him, all he could do was to switch to a lower iphone tariff.0

You will have to use the following Settings as per the iPhone to get around this:
APN: idata.o2.co.uk
Username: vertigo
Password: password
If O2 send you the settings because you inserted the SIM into the new phone, delete the config messages and ignore them it will have to be set-up with the settings as above.
If Voicemail is used - Have to keep calling 901 to check or switch this off as Visual Voicemail will no longer work - Or use O2 Call Alert by calling 1710 and you will get a text message instead.David

Just text active to 2020 and they will send you the settings for your phone0

If they fail try these http://mobileguide.o2.co.uk/devices/device.jsp?deviceId=667&tab=8&step=2&settingId=33130

The iPhone tariffs give you access to the standard APNs so mobile.o2.co.uk will work okay, I'm actually using an HTC Desire on an iPhone tariff and I find I get better speeds through idata.o2.co.uk than the standard mobile.o2.co.uk which is the reason I've not changed. He will however have difficulty accessing BTOpenzone and The Cloud as it seems to be setup only to accept an Apple MAC address when you're on an iPhone tariff.
O2 should however allow you to move to a non-iPhone tariff, phone up 2302 and speak to another advisor0
