:snow_laugHi everyone well I did the cheese and onion bread mix from tesco 58p and was quite happy with my first results at home made bread, all being it a tad too easy with the BM just bung it in and walk away till it beeps around 3 hours and 40 minutes, decided to have a go with the parmesan and sundried tomatoe one fantastic, sent my 2 dogs insane looking for the smell, my son who wont eat white bread cos its just too plain for him has'nt stopped eating the stuff, had abit of a hic up with the ciabatta as did'nt read the instructions right and put to much in, but although it tasted abit weird it was ok will just have to remember next time you only put 1/4 of the mix in and not the full amount, silly me, but so far it's the best £19.99 I've ever spent was abit shy about using it at first but all in all wont ever go back to shop bought bread, merry christmas everyone our starter for christmas day will be a chunk of home made bread with pate and a side salad! bye for now T:snow_laug:xmastree::snow_laug

ive got a bread maker i havent used in ages but am planning on sorting out all of my kitchen cupboards next week and looking it out-i bought all the stuff i need a couple of weeks ago but am keen to try with the value flour as i dont feel making it with the strong flour is much cheaper than buying it-prob mainly because you cant cut it as thinly as sliced bought bread so you get less slices
im also gonna try the pizza base mix and make my own pizzas

You will never compete with Smart Price / Value sliced white, however have a read here and thread here
You can omit milk or milk powder and substitute veg oil for butter for a start, and use Lidl / Asda / Morrison etc bread flour at 68p a 1.5kg bag [makes four loaves, or 3 in my case]
You can even mix standard white flour in, but from what I see the, own brand, strong, white bread flour is often cheaper than own brand plain white flourWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0 -
