Morning all:j
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Morning all!!

Waited for a bit for the thread - here we go! Hope we don't end up with two!!!

My day next.................

Ok the way forward for me today

Up from 5.30 due to the wind - feel liek we're taking off here - got the HC on early and on the cheap electric too :rotfl:
Hen food to do next then I have to go out there eek :eek:
Bank to do :o
PAD to evil cc - and then maybe more tomorrow:money:
Ebay to check - free weekend for ebay listing - whynot join me??:A
Plants to pot up for ebay more plants and more plants :dance:
More seeds to sort out
First plant order for veggies - woo hoo - I'm growing to order for some folk and its a nice first order :)
Might walk dog local - but will see
Meal plan - I hate it but it works, keep repeating that, it works it works etc til I've done it!
Aim for a nsd or a lsd -
Notice up for the cockeral to see if I can give him away - very pretty but his dad is very grumpy with him
Check the petrol and maybe try and go to the cheapest garage here
Leave kids sleeping - less electric used that way:rotfl:
Tweak heating a bit more - turned off two storage heaters so far and no one died - maybe I can chance another one?
Check fridge out and sort whats needing eaten first
Milk and bread, cheese from the reduced stash in the freezer
Fill up soap dispensers with bubble bath - makes me giggle, very cheap and I like playing with the colours each time I do it.
Make a cuppa and catch up on mse very free and money saving!

Tea or coffee all round...............with a vitural hob-nob :)

:coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee:

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend - not been about for a bit due to evil thesis write up - but hopefully I'll get there.............:A - Ihope you're all well, been reading most days but not been able to post from work - :(

    Hi

    Thanks for starting this today.

    I've not got off to a very money saving start. Gonna have to run the tumble drier at least twice as OH has friend staying and gotta wash bedding etc. and dry it quickly.

    Hopefully will be better other than that.

    Tidy and clean house - not really MS but needs doing
    Review fridge contents to see what left
    Review food cupboards - still quite full
    Try and meal plan for next week using maximum stores, minimum shopping
    Food shop at Mr T sticking to the list!
    Test smoke alarms
    Bleed radiators and check boiler pressure
    Adjust the lamp timers so come on later now evenings getting lighter
    Tweak the heating controls down a bit further (how low can I go before we get chilly?)
    Study a chapter for my OU course and do the tutorial DVD
    Walk the dog twice more today and three times tomorrow

    Should keep me busy and keep spends low(ish)

    Have a great weekend all :D
    Debt Free since Nov 11 (ish) (except the £118000 mortgage :o) as at Jan 2013 but still hanging around DFW as I need to Stay On Track.

    I do it all because I'm scared.
  • Changed my electricity contract after the massive bill for last quarter - apparently I'm off the called rate and onto the standard one in time for last quarter (well, gee, thanks Scottish Power);
    I've since switched off all the heaters at home to, in my words, 'get it right up them' so they makee as little money as possible from me, even if it is baltic here;
    Will be listening to the football on the radio even though my own team are playing 2 miles away today (saves me £25 or so);
    Will be taking loads of old clothes and things to the charity shop to ease the strain on my wardrobes;
    Hopefully I'll have the final £1 credited from valued opinions coming through so that I get another tenner from them (the last £10 being credited and spent on Wednesday!);
    Going to a concert I win VIP for tonight, but I've got no one to go with so going on my own :-(
    Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

  • Good morning everyone, and thanks to Pippi for starting us off today.

    I'm hoping for a good DFW weekend, but you never know in this house!

    So far today I have:
    • had filling porridge for breakfast - saves on snacking
    • checked banking - ooops :o
    • checked for surveys
    • fed and watered the chickens
    • checked my council tax bill, but still don't quite understand it!
    I will also:
    • make two batches of Millie's cookies for a party this afternoon
    • see if there's anything to ebay
    • walk to birthday party and eat 'free' food
    • start putting up lining paper in bathroom and toilet room
    • keep checking for surveys
    I'm sure there's loads more, but DH is rattling on in the background and I can't concentrate. I'll be back later to update :D

    Thanks to Pippi for starting the thread.

    This weekend I will
    • Clean and tidy the flat
    • Do 3 loads of washing and dry inside - 1st lot is on already.
    • Change bed - done
    • Check surveys - done a couple, another one to do
    • Check bank as expected
    • Go out tonight - try not to overspend
    • Try and return 4 month old toaster to Argos but I can't find the receipt and it went pop when I put it on this morning. :eek:
    • NOT do any school work, I need a break, I'm not functioning, I had 3 free lessons yesterday and couldn't get my act together and get going and do anything useful.
    • Read and watch TV to relax
    • Maybe do a bit of cooking

    I did manage to do my shopping last night, took advantage of a lot of 3 for 2 type offers and used a £3 of a £30 spend voucher from Mr S at Mr T and got £52 worth of food for just over £40. :D Shouldn't need much shopping now till the end of the month.

    I also managed to get a nice £65 evening dress from the Next clearance shop near me for £25 and an evening bag for £2 So I'll look the business tonight. :rotfl:

    Snoop, congrats to daughter, what does she do?

    Have a good one all
