Hi just a quick question!
For housing benefit is tax credits for childcare disregarded?
Because i put a claim in and they have used it as our income and not taken into account we pay child care? Its also a run-on as my partner has lost his job and they say they cant pay any benefit as we earn too much?! Im so confused!

The full amount of tax credits should be used when calculating your income. But if you are paying 'relevant' childcare charges, up to £175 for one child and £300 for more than one child should be deducted from the income used to calculate your entitlement."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0

Well i sent them the appeal and recieved a letter back today, they basically said that as my partner wasnt working they have to use my childcare element as earnings??!!
i mean !!!!!!? i have to give 4 weeks notice to the childcare providers to take my children out and im not making any money from the tax credits?! Im so upset, can anyone help?!0 -
You cannot claim the childcare element of tax credits if your partner is not working. You must let tax credits know immediately as you will be incurring an overpayment. Tax credits run the childcare element for 4 weeks to save you having an costs for notice etc.0

If your partner isn't working how do you manage to get childcare element in the first place? I thought if you were a couple, both of you had to work over 16hrs a week? Are you sure your tax credit award is up to date?Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

You need to be both working 16+ hours or one of you needs to be incapacited for work purposes (in prison or disabled). The OP seriously needs to get in touch with TC xx0 -

Why did you need child care if there is an adult that isn't currently working?0
