Virgin tariff
Hi Folks
I am thinking of buying a Virgin SIM pack, £10 with £5 credit and no regular fee, just the cost of calls. I hardly ever use the phone so not a lot of point in a monthly contract.
Does anyone have experience of their service, any snags etc.
Cheers, Arni

My son was on Virgin PAYG till I recently changed him to Orange (freebie
) and he had problems with them sending unsolicited SMS messages which sucked his credit dry
Apparently, others have had this problem too, although I'm not sure if it's just restricted to the Virgin network, but then I've not had this problem with Vodaphone, Orange or O2."An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Are you sure it was Virgins ending the messages? I have heard of this happening on most/all networks but it is from 3rd parties who people have inadvertently signed up to (or possibly not even signed up to) such as companies that send you ringtones.0

You'd be able to find the SIM cheaper, for example
http://www.scancom.co.uk/product.php/208/
might be £3 for postage though
Virgin's charges for other mobile networks are 35p a minute (same sort of X-net charges on all networks). If you signed up for call1899 (see threads on home phones), they charge 10p daytime, 2p off-peak; this added to the Virgin charge of 15p dropping to 5p for a landline access (London number)0
