because your router will get a dynamic IP from your ISP, unless you're with one of the few who will give a static IP. You should be giving the pc a static IP within the DHCP range of your router, i.e. if your router hands out, say, 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254, you need to assign a static IP to the pc in that range.
    ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

Is UPnP turned on in the "game & application sharing" section on the router?

If that doesn't help, have you tried port forwarding?

According to this web page, Battlefield 2 uses the following ports:

    TCP: 80, 4711, 18060, 28910, 29900-29901, 29920
    UDP: 1500-4999, 16567, 18060, 27900-27901, 29900, 29910, 55123-55124, 55215

With the Thomson TG585 v7 router you can set up port forwarding by going to the "Game & Application Sharing" section, choosing to "Create a new game or application", then entering the ports listed above and specifying the relevant device on your network (i.e. the PC/console that you're playing Battlefield 2 on).

Note that port 80 is used for standard web (HTTP) traffic, so forwarding that port is likely to cause problems for anyone else on your network who wants to use web applications.

Also, opening ports poses a small security risk, so I usually turn off port forwarding (or "game and application sharing") when I'm not using it.

    I followed this link...http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Thomson-Alcatel/TG585v7/Battlefield_Bad_Company_2.htm

Then downloaded the static IP software. I took a screenshot but the forum doesn't allow posting links, which I understand.

    Yes.
