SO annoyed with Orange, should i complain?

Hi all,
Both myself and my boyfriend (live together) have been with Orange mobile phone for at least the last 4/5 years. We have always paid £30 a month each as a minimum, thats the package we are on.
We got Wanadoo internet when we moved earlier in the year, so when it first became clear that Orange we're taking over and it was free to Orange mobile users we thought great, lets sign up. So i called them, the guy said it would be all set up for us no probs.
I notice on my boyfriends bank statement that it said Orange £27.99 (which was the price we used to pay to wanadoo) and this was seperate to the mobiel charge. So we'd been carrying on paying it for the last few months when we thought we were getting it free.
I called them, he explained we had never been set up for free broadband, and if we wanted to sign up now, we would have to sign a NEW 18 month contract with our current mobile! I am 9 months into an 18 month contract, but i hate hate hate the handset and cant wait to change it. But he said i wouldn't be able to get the normal upgrade, it would cost me £250!
I just think this is really rediculous as we are both already on 18 month contracts, and to make matters worse the internet service since they took over has been dreadful, constantly going on and off, but we thought it was free so didn't bother complaining!
I am just annoyed, we have been with them for ages but new customers can take advantage and we cant. Do you think i should write a letter of complaint?
Thanks. x

if when you signed up the guy said 'no probs' to the broadband being free then you have a case to take up with orange, write a letter of complaint to head office or make a complaint over the phone, see if they can get the details of the person who signed u up and go back to them asking why they said it would be free and youve now been charged?Yes Your Dukeiness

If Orange don't reply to your emails/calls and you think you are out of pocket, it might be worth contacting your local Citizens Advice Bureau. We had a problem with Telewest, who wouldn't reply to us at all, but the CAB wrote to them on our behalf (for free) and it was sorted out in no time.
My father had a problem with Orange taking money out of his account that they shouldn't have taken. He filled in the forms to take them to the small claims court, just the threat of it made Orange pay him back the money that they owed him and he didn't actually have to go to court.0
