My banking bonus and discussing it

I'm starting to find you a bit obnoxiously self righteous as this thread progresses. It seems to me that you've got no time for anyone who doesn't agree with you, which is your prerogative, but it's hardly a healthy attitude.
It also seems that you're still unwilling to accept that it's a possibility that the people deciding the bonus levels might know something you don't, or perceive the employee's respective values to the company differently to you.
Even if the management don't, you seem unwilling to accept that some people may have legitimately negotiated their compensation more successfully than others.
Accusations like those that you have made in this thread are serious and shouldn't be made without proof (and I don't mean proof by assertion).
If you're employer makes it a condition of employment or receipt of bonus that you don't discuss the compensation you receive then you shouldn't discuss it, end of story. They probably impose that because people tend to make assumptions about other people's work and the money they receive without the full facts and this causes tension in the workplace.
Unfortunately on a forum I cant put yourself in my shoes and make you understand and see first hand what total corruptness is going on within my derpartment.0 -
And unfortunately you will never gather the evidence to support that statement. You ask what are your rights. You may discover that one of your rights is to have someone accompany you when you're sacked for gross misconduct for defying the clear written instructions which accompanied your bonus.Unfortunately on a forum I cant put yourself in my shoes and make you understand and see first hand what total corruptness is going on within my derpartment..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -

Despite what my posts might lead you to believe, I do understand, people receiving differing pay for the same work is unpalatable. I personally think that pay and bonus structures should be transparent, if only to ensure people don't perceive a lack of fairness, however ...hoffmeister wrote: »Unfortunately on a forum I cant put yourself in my shoes and make you understand and see first hand what total corruptness is going on within my derpartment.
... As I said before, just because you think it is corrupt doesn't mean it necessarily is. The fact is that pay structures don't have to be transparent. You are saying that, based on what you see in the workplace, you can't justify the bonus difference, but your managers may have other perfectly legitimate metrics or different contractual commitments that do justify the differences to them that you are not in possession of.And unfortunately you will never gather the evidence to support that statement. You ask what are your rights. As Errata implies, rocking the boat like this is risky for you whether or not they are corrupt. Maybe it would be best to confirm firmly from management what criteria bonuses are based on before accusing people of unfairness or corruption.
All I am trying to impress on you is that it may not be an unfair allocation, even if the differences are only justified through what each respective employee has negotiated in terms of bonus and pay structure or management perceptions of employee performance that you are not privy to.If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.0 -
You and your collegues are on whatever bonus structure you have in your contract so there is a law that governs it and also why you can't discuss it.
You obviously don't like it so kick up a stink, tell your employer you've been discussing it and then expect to be shown the door.
Surely you must know this already?0 -
hoffmeister wrote: »The bonus's should be all put up on the wall for everybody to see!
What would be the point? You've clearly all discussed it anyway. Despite clear instruction not to, which leaves you in a very vulnerable position.
If you feel so strongly about it, hand the bonus back and advise everyone else to do the same.0 -
Ask for a breakdown of how they calculated your bonus, with precise figures. Maybe get your friend to do the same. Use the excuse that you want to see how you could improve it, perhaps by concentrating your efforts in certain areas.0

I don't get a bonus because no employ is man enough to give me a job.hoffmeister wrote: »Just because you dont get a bonus, dont take it out on the rest of the world because you are jealous.
Hell i would pick dog muck up for minimum wage and if i ever got a bonus i would feed it straight back through the employer so i wasn't getting more than anyone else.
I'm willing to go for a job at £10 per hour and barter the wage saying if they employ me i will sign a contract and accept minimum wage instead of the £10 per hour.
I am not jelous of your bonus i am annoyed thay you have a job and are still complining about a "FREE" top up (Bonus)
I have not had any clothes for 3 years, It takes me 3 months to afford a haircut but i keep on dragging by knowing my kids have food and are happy.
Who cares about me?
Grow some nuts and go find someone in my situtation with kids and no prospects in life and give them the bonus and forget about it.
Oh i hear you screaming "NO" Well shame on you then.
I bet one neighbour near you is struggling right now and you have the nerve to publically complain on the internet about people getting more/less money than you.0 -

He won't give to you. He has no intention of sharing.Reggie_Rebel wrote: »I'll have it
He is the guy with the small bonus hence the posts.
He is now saying he is the high and mighty brown noser to stop people moaning at him.
He won't be a man and give it to a needy person/cause.
He is shallow and the greed took over his life.
Some baby is at home getting starved right now and all he can think about is "why do they get more than me in the bonuses"0
