I've had my house on the market and not much interest. The two agents have sent around people but they always want something the house doesn't have. The first one wanted four bedrooms and my house is only three, I told the agent and they said sorry but that was it. I waited in all day for this to tidy up, waste of my time. You can probably tell i'm a little frustrated.
Anyway saw advert from our property move and they say I can sell my house on the internet for free, well a 30 day free trial. Can I do this?
Can I legally sell my house on their website and not get into trouble?

Any advise please, or anyone know our property move? or has anyone sold a house privately?

Thanks

  • Sorry I'm a bit new to this my Son had to help me get back on. I entered my password wrong.

We are with an estate agent but they have had trouble finding the right type of people who want to buy. I have spoken to them and they say I'm able to advertise privately, apparently if they find a buyer then I still have to pay but if I find a buyer I don't but what happens if I get a buyer, who's to say my agent won't take their commision anyway?

If anyone has had experiance in privately selling I'd be very greatful??

    LOL!

Are you an Italian property owner???
  • If you are genuinely asking about a third party service and not simply trying to introduce a service you are linked to, my advice is forget the freebie site - these are nearly all start ups with nothing of value to offer you (that's why its free - get it?).

In addition, most new advertising sites and some of the older ones don't comply with the OFT guide rules on using advertising alongside traditional estate agents - you need to choose carefully and therefore that means a professional, established company that has been vetted by the OFT and know what they are doing. Otherwise, you could find your private advertising is conflicting with your agency agreement.

If you are serious about selling a property, you should be serious about investing in a paid-for service - you only get what you pay for. The better services will still only cost you around £100-150 and can easily be found on Google (ignore the sponsored advertising and look at the real search results down the left hand-side, that's how you find the companies that have been around longest and offer a real service).
  • I understand what you say about not getting anything for nothing but if I do sell it with them then I could save a fair bit. Just want someone who has sold their property privately to give their feedback.

In regards to what you said about sell with a normal estate agent, I am. I've been with over four different estate agents, your move, page and wells, connells and halifax. All of them have failed to sell my house.
We are moving abroad and just waiting to sell our house and then we are off. Until we do we have to stay here.

I've listed my house with them for a free 30 day trial- I'll keep you updated with the progress, I'm sure I'm not the first to want advice...

Has anyone sold their house privately who can give me some feedback?

    Thanks,

The name was made up by my son.:rotfl:

  • Have just taken our off due to the winter, not been on as long as yours mind but we are also struggling to sell. i've just had a look on that website, read why us part

    "Here is an example:
Say your house sells for £250,000 here is the commission you pay to the estate agent!

    Estate Agents Commission 1.5% 2% 2.5%

    Estate Agents Fee £3,750 £5,000 £6,250

    Remember they add VAT £4,406 £5,875 £7,343"

Blimey you're in to save bucks if you sell it yourself!! Good Luck :)
My opinions are exactly what you would expect, my own...
  • Thanks I will have a read!
