Bulgaria Holiday Money

I went to Bulgaria 14 years ago when you couldn't exchange in the Uk and we just took sterling and exchanged with various dodgy hotel staff when we were over there.
Am going again tomorrow and wondered if we would be better getting our levs now or again, get a few here (about 2.15:£1) or exchange the rest in Bulgaria?
Any advice?
What rates can you get over there?
