How can I watch BBCi player through my Humax box?

Now, I'm a bit of a dolt with gadgetry so keep this simple.
I have Humax freeview box, I think it's a 9300T or something and someone said I can just run an ethernet cable from my (Virgin) hub to the Humax. I have a spare ethernet cable but can't see a slot on the Humax to plug it in to. Doubtless I'm being incredibly thick/clueless, can someone explain?

Not on the 9300T. There is no ethernet port on it.
Possibly your friend was thinking of the Humax Foxsat, which can be set up this way to receive iPlayer on the Freesat platform.
I think you can also now get iPlayer via Freeview HD-but not on your box.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Cheers.
So does that mean only Humax Freesat boxes can do this? what about an HD Humax box?
I could upgrade. :think:0 -
Humax Foxsat will get you iPlayer, but then you'll need to install a dish and a twin feed. So will Humax Freeview HD, if available in your area.
You also need a reasonably fast broadband connection-say around 2MBps. The iPlayer site gives you the details. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Look at the Freeview HD site and use the postcode checker. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

there are a fair number of boxes which have iPlayer capability.
There are some existing HD DTT boxes likely to get this feature in the future too.
The key to it is hardware decoding of H264, and BBC and manufacturer support.0 -

You could try a HD checker - there are a few, like this one: digitalchoices.co.uk/hd-coverage-checker.html most don't need you to register or anything, and they provide you differing amounts of info.
Best of luck!0 -
Another tip worth thinking about if its just iplayer you are after and do not want the hassle of installing a dish etc. Nintendo Wiis can be picked up very cheap 2nd hand now. We use the Wii to get iplayer great service no issues at all."Don't panic just chill out and smile"

As you have Virgin Broadband, It might be worth getting a basic Virgin TV package which will include access to BBC iPlayer, presuming you are on Virgin Cable of course.0

We already had a Wii, and I bought another for my bedroom. You can get a second-hand Wii for about £40, maybe less. You might even get some games with it, but will at least get an extra Wii Remote and Nunchuck if you have a Wii already.
