im not moaning i cant afford a holiday
  • This isn't about anyone else it's the OP who asked how they could get money for a holiday. DLA is for your care needs and the OP is asking how to get a free holiday, Bl**dy cheeky.

I do not think unhelpful replies so far. The op is on a limited income whether benefits or disability money. They want a holiday, so I must think do many on benefits. What makes them so special, to deserve preferential treatment?

Replies 3 and 4 not unhelpful as I also would like to know of others who may have found good bargains. Hence my mention that we take the odd Travelodge break in the absence of being to afford a conventional holiday.

If one has a legal financial entitlement it is no ones else business how they spend it. The OP could of gone about it a different way by saying are there any good holiday offers vouchers, etc and this may of got a better response. So I agree that their wording is not going to get much sympathy on this forum which often has the tendancy of veering off into DT time threads.

Perhaps the mods should of moved it to another holiday based board.

OP - there may be some charities that will be able to help you with a contribution to holiday costs, depending on what's wrong with your partner, etc etc. Go to your local library or CAB and ask to see the following guides:

A Guide to Financial Help Towards the Cost of A Holiday, Respite Care or Convalescence (published by Tourism for All at https://www.tourismforall.org.uk).

A Guide to Grants for Individuals in Need (published by The Directory of Social Change at www.dsc.org.uk).

You can register on a house swap holiday website, I think it'll cost about £15-£20 for the year, then you swap houses with another family for however long you agree to, so you only get travel costs to pay for.

Should we put a warning up somewhere - if you're on benefits simper about thanking people for your existence + don't ask for any money saving tips - don't you know you shouldn't have anything because you don't have a paid job??!!!
