Help with benefits...

Hey,

I was wondering my partner is on DLA and IB and I don't get carer allowance because my partner care component is low, and we are struggling to save up for a holiday and we was wondering if there is anywhere what could help us, by giving us money toward a holiday in the UK and any discounts on anything?

When you are on benefits the money is for daily living etc. If someone was on benefits like that and was managing to go on holidays then something serious is wrong!
If you want a holiday, go out and get a job.

The OP may be saving to take a Travelodge £9 per room per night as we do with our very very limited funds. When you are stuck at home a break is good and in our case two night breaks here and there is good for us. Total budget £18 + food - sometimes BurgerKing offers which are often around.

The turn2us online benefit calculator has a section for people to search for grants. You could do a google search to see if you can identify a disability advice website that may have info about subsidised breaks for the disabled or ask them on the Disability and Dosh website.

You could use Freecycle, gumtree freebies or freegle to amass free camping equipment and go either to a cheap campsite or go wild camping - plenty of info on the internet about good wild camping sites in the UK. Or borrow from friends.

The MSE website provides info on all the holiday and hotel deals in the UK, plus I expect one of the forums or webpages will detail the cheap caravan holidays that the tabloid newspapers run each year where a person saves tokens.

Otherwise, as your partner appears to be on low rate mobility and low rate care, therefore has modest care needs, perhaps you could find a job? If you are entitled to free or subsidised holidays, then your only other strategy is to up your income in the conventional way - through employment. There's an 'up your income' page on MSE, too.
