I'm considering Nationwide's Flex Account and wondered what people's experience of it was? Thanks

I got one and i think its good
Pretty good customer service but online banking is ok (doesn't offer a lot to do on it)
Debit card full visa debit and can request chequebook also which is good
All details came for it pretty fast and good branch service
Account is OK (7/10) in my opinion0 -
I have one but don't use it. Alliance & Leicester offer me free travel insurance and First Direct offered me £100. I have both accounts. Nationwide is ok but they don't give me anything extra. If you will fund the account with £1.5K per month, First Direct is best IMHO.

Not keen on first direct as they're a part of HSBCGorgeous_George wrote: »I have one but don't use it. Alliance & Leicester offer me free travel insurance and First Direct offered me £100. Had flex account as my main current account for years and been perfectly happy with it.
Dont use branch very often as I do all my banking online. I find the online banking easy to navigate and the convenience suits me.0 -
I have a NW account but since they withdrew the free withdrawals in EU I no longer use it. I find the service in the branch dreadful. Takes ages to do simple things and they have all sorts of petty rules. Make you jump through hoops to invest in their ISA products.
I use LTSB Vantage in preference to Nationwide."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

It was alright when they had free withdrawls from foreign ATMs. Now they charge like most others.0

I use them if I need to write a cheque (for nursery fees etc). I then do a FP transfer from my LTSB account to Nationwide to cover the cheque. :jI spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

I have one but don't use it as if you need to phone telephone banking its a nightmare....then again I bank with first Direct so have been spoilt!0

The flexaccount has progressively worsened for me over the last 6 years:
- Interest rates reduced to 0%
- Withdrawel of free debit card use abroad
- Slow to implement Faster payments. Limited to £1000 per day. No indication of when they will increase this limit.
- Often have to use chip+pin to authorise online payments/settings. Means security is a bit better but I think it's negligible. Bad guy knows my password also probably knows my pin! So mostly a hindrence.
- Overdraft rates increased (though I don't use it anyway)
Good points:
- Online banking is quite good and has online messaging.
- Can manage overdrafts limits online and various other admin tasks like ordering new card or card reader etc
- Now offers free EU travel insurance but I think that has limited/no value. I'm covered by my employer anyway!
Summary: OK account but nothing much to shout about anymore.0 -
I've had one for years and have had no problem with internet banking. On the other hand, my local branch staff could do with some retraining." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."
