Are Sony centres affiliated with Sony?
I believe Sony Centres, at least some of them, are not owned by Sony, although I can't at the moment find anything to confirm that.

Your receipt must tell you who you bought from.

You mention in your original post that you collected the thing. Where did you collect it from?

"My other point is they ARE STILL advertising this product as the spec I bought falsely misleading customers."

A call to trading standards may not go amiss.

Good point, I shall look into that :)

The OP has a valid contract with the Sony Centre (which are independent franchisees). You've paid your money, they have to supply that which you have contracted to buy.

You have a choice, you can return the goods and reclaim your money - alternatively you can claim for the difference in cost between what you were promised and what you ultimately ended up with.

This means you could sue in the small claims for £269 pounds.

You need to do a little bit of research to find out what the name of the company is who runs the sony centre - this may be on your receipt, alternatively if you go to the store there will be a sign somewhere telling you what it is.

Assuming you have documentary proof of the promised spec of your order and what you ended up with and evidence of the difference in cost of the two products you have a very good case.

what ACTUAL processor did you get? If you were expecting a 2.53 i3 for instance and got a 2.4ghz i7, then you got an awesome upgrade.

You make it sound much worse than it is, from I can see:
    - Sony sent you the wrong laptop, so offered a £100 for the lower spec model or a complete refund.
    - They couldn't deliver your original purchase because of some unknown reason. This happens, nobods is perfect.

I get the impression the advertised laptop was a great deal, but you can no longer get it, so you are now angry.

Guessing, the price or specs on the website were listed incorrectly, and Sony are being slow fixing it.

Calling it a 'con' is kind of over-blowing the situation imo.
