Hairy Bikers Mums know best series 2

I am a happy bunny!
The Hairy Bikers visited my husband's work today and he came home with a copy of the new book that he'd got them to sign for me
They visited last year too and I got a signed copy of the first book, so now I have both of them. And apparently they were discussing my name with hubby (because it's a bit unusual).
I love Si and Dave, I want them to be my friends

Up until about ten years ago we all thought my SIL had OH's mum's recipe book which started out as her Grandma's - when I asked to borrow it to make her chocolate cake Sil said she had never seen it since their Mum had passed away, we can only think that Fil thre it out or gave it to the charity shop when he had a big clearout a year or so after she died:(
On my side, my Grandma used to spend hours baking with me when I went to stay and she always said I could have her recipes - my thieving biatch of an Auntie half inched them before she had even died. She won't let anyone near them all I want to do is copy the old handwritten ones - she keeps promising to copy them for me but doesn't!!!
So, it is now up to me to start a new one to carry on - I have two lovely leather journals and will do one for each daughter, problem is now that we are all electronic I don't know if I am wasting my time.0 -

I think the modern version would be a folder or file that you can insert A4 size pages into.
Then you could have internet downloads, recipes you'd copied & pasted from others, recipes you photocopied & recipes you typed out yourself.0 -
...Don't think I've ever had beef curry (you don't get beef in curry houses) so I've only ever made lamb or chicken...
I guess you don't live in the same towns that I have lived in, beef is common on the menus in our local Indian restaurants!
The dock pudding looked very similar to lava bread, Denbigh Dale pie is fab, but I always make it with half their amount of pastry so it's not so heavy. I can rememebr going there when i was a kid to see the giant pies!0 -
I love the Hairy Bikers! Never make anything but have their books and just love their passion for food!
Note on own recipe books. I am currently rewriting some of my favourite recipes from well thumbed Bero book, recipe cards etc. I didn't think that my son would be interested but he recently asked for my recipe for rice pudding. Nothing special but I think that we all enjoy a bit of nostalgia. My mothers book went to Italy with sister, don't suppose that I would ever have made anything from it but nice to have....The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

The cow is sacred in India.
Hence its not part of Indian cooking, Indian curry houses serve chicken & lamb.0 -
I really like them too and want to give them (especially Si) a HUGE hug. Great ideas for recipes in these series...:j I feel I am diagonally parked in a parallel universe :j0

I've just made those minced beef pinwheels, they are totally scrummy. But I used the recipe from the book not online.
I got 18 from my block of pastry which I rolled into a rectangle and rolled up along the long side. the recipe says a square and get 12.My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 27). Hubby also a found daughter (38).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (12 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (13, 10 & 6).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
