Leaving O2 if LLU line?

Hi all this one has me a bit confused, I am currently an O2 customer for broadband and landline, however after receiving the email regarding price increases I'm looking to switch to Sky.
As my broadband is via O2 LLU will I lose my broadband for a period during any switchover or can you use a MAC code ?
Thanks.

All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy...

You need to ask o2 for your MAC (assuming you are out of contract this will cost you nothing)
You pass this number to your new provider who then take over your broadband.
There will be a gap but it may not be for long, just a few hours potentially.0 -
I`m under the impression that MAC`s cannot be raised on a LLU line.
You simply ask SKY to take over your service, SKY should be able to advise you of the time frames, it could only be for a short time whilst the swap is taking place in the exchange.0 -
Believe that's correct - no MAC needed for an LLU swap.
It requires a slightly different procedure for Sky to undertake the migration however other posters have confirmed this has been done successfully [LLU > LLU]0 -
Luckily for you, Sky seem to be the Only LLU operator willing to undertake direct LLU to LLU migrations.
However a call to 02 will almost certainly secure you a retention deal that will hopefully cancel out the advised increase-you should be able to get at least £2.50 off.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Cheers for the replies everyone, I have spoken to O2 retentions, to be honest this increase and thus breaking my contract has been a bit of a blessing in disguise. My broadband service has steadily declined with o2, and I was just waiting for my contract to end in June. Will take all my services to Sky and barter a deal there. All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy...

Apologies for my duff original post.
Why has your o2 broadband "steadily declined"?0 -
Tesco broadband do a straight swap with no MAC code0

When I first got the O2 broadband I was getting a good steady 14mbs on my line, they said my line could support 16mbs but I was sceptical. Anyway over the past few months my speed has been no more than 6 - 8meg and with constant dropouts. I have spoken to technical who played about with various noise levels etc etc. To be honest I'm now fed up with it so it's off to Sky I go..All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy...

But if the problem is on your line, then switching to Sky will not make any difference. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
