Are they still advertising the position? It may be that there have been some internal changes since the role was originally advertised which have caused them to rethink the role that they are recruiting for - I know that has happened in companies I've worked for in the past - someone else hands in their notice and instead of recruiting for the original position they decide to restructure the team or similar.
Either way, feedback from interviews is often vague to the point of being useless - I was once told in the same e-mail that they felt I was both under- and over-qualified for the role in question, so there wasn't much I felt I could improve on from that information!0
