Thursday 10th February - what small DFW things will you be doing

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Morning all

Not been around much this last week or so as I've been so exhausted I've not been able to get online and read the forums much - but I have managed to keep up the dfw way of life.

Today I will

Charge phone at work
Free tea at work
Take packed lunch to work
Print off a form I need to claim money from the post office for damaging something I sent on eBay
Send off the First Direct referral I've been asked for
Do a shopping list for weekly shop and stick to it
Check surveys - I'm over £20 on onepoll now
Pay £70 into my cc debt as I've been put on a focus group paying £70 in cash next week. That way I won't spend it.
Pay my music magpie cheque into the bank

  • Good morning all. I had a lovely 'Grandma Day' yesterday. DGD and I made choux pastry spiders, worms and hearts - first time I'd made choux pastry!! In the afternoon DGS, her cousin, came over and his mum and I made a nappy cake :)

Back to reality today, so far I have:
    • checked banking - looking a bit dodgy :o
    • checked for surveys
    • made lunch to take to work
    • fed and watered the chickens
    • looked in local paper for a nicer job
    I will also:
    • charge mobile at work
    • knit at lunchtime to avoid the shops
    • keep checking for surveys throughout the day
    • DH dropping me at work and hopefully filling the tank - I've been running it on the fuel light for two days ;)
    • send DH to the new Lidl opening today to see if there are any offers
    • re-do February budget to take into account my sewing course at the end of the month :j
    • possibly an NSD if I don't have to contribute to the diesel
Okay guys and gals, that's my Thursday! stitchy x

Stitchy – what is ‘Nappy cake’?

It's a gift for new parents, with the tiers made up of rolled disposable nappies with gifts hidden inside, then covered in baby blanket/towel to look like icing. Difficult to describe so see this link:

The delight on the recipients' faces is worth the trouble and expense of making them! :D

  • Morning all :hello:. I've not been on for a few days but it's nice to be back.

:j for a four day week La E!

I'm loving your diesel frugal ways Stitching Witch, although it's usually DH who does that in our house.

Hopefully a very DFW day for me.

    -All meals from stores.
-Soft play with DS but I have cash to pay for it and a completed loyalty card for a free drink so low spend.
-Baking this afternoon using ingredients I already have. Hoping to create some yummy treats.
-Pop some more bits on Gumtree/local selling site. This is going really well this week and also helping with the de-clutter!
-Post tax rebate letters for me and DH- we both wash our own uniform so hoping to get some tax back for past 5 years-ish!
    -Check for surveys.

I can't think of anything else but may update later.

    Have a good one everyone!
