Upgrading Phone Early on Orange

Hi, I'm about 10/11 months into a 24 month contract on Orange, and I'm wondering if there's any way I could get a free/discounted upgrade on my phone or a reduction in the price of my monthly tariff.
I pay £35 a month on the actual tariff and another £12 on Orange phone insurance. My mother also pays £25 on the same account.
I've been looking around and have seen that other networks have much better deals in terms of minutes for price compared to my own deal, and it's really opened my eyes to how expensive orange is, and if I don't get a reduction/upgrade I would really prefer to leave.
So is there any way I could get an upgrade on my phone/a reduction in my tariff? In terms of haggling of course, ha ha.
Would threatening (obviously calmly) to leave Orange (on both tariffs under the account) get me anywhere?
Thanks very much.

Why would threatening to leave do anything???? To do so you would have to pay £455 (24-11*£35) plus whatever is left on your mums.
Try searching this forum there are loads of post of people trying to get out of contracts or get early upgrades.
You signed the deal, you have to do the time or pay the fine (early exit fee, £455 in your case).
If you booked a holiday and then 2 months later would you go back into the travel agent and try and haggle for a refund? Think not.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Orange might let you drop one tariff level once you reach the 12-month stage but this would be a goodwill gesture and isn't guaranteed to happen. Threatening to leave them won't do any good at all. You signed a contract and there are laws governing such things.
If you want to reduce yor monthly spend then the first thing to do is find a cheaper way of insuring your phone. £12 is a lot and you could probably get it on your home contents insurance for a lot less (or even free). The only thing you would need to cover after that is the call element. I pay £2.50 a month to insure for this but it may well be that you can get it cheaper than that.If I've helped you please show your appreciation by using the "Thanks" button
