Switch to eclipse?

I've just applied to orange for my mac code and eclipse seems to offer all I need, but i've looked at some forum chat and they seem to have speed and dropped connection issues---obviously its only dissatisfied customers who usually post

Is anyone reading this using and happy with eclipse?

Some other opinions would be interesting.;)

Yes, very happy, can be a tad slow at peak times but no problems with the connection, worked from day one, never stopped since, but I understand some people have problems when they get switched over to LLU.
I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes.

I have posted negative comments regarding Eclipse in the past, but that was on their discontinued "Flex" product when a routing issue caused me immeasurable headaches.

I went back to them after a nightmare with BT Broadband on one of their Evolution products and I have to say that I have been as happy as Larry since then.

Customer services is brilliant AND IN ENGLAND, speeds are acceptable, they have a geographical phone number for you to call (ignore the 0845 number and use 01392333333 instead), and they speak in clear and plain english, whatever your level of experience. They also have an excellent customer portal which you can use to change just about anything about your account.

Be aware of the difference between Evolution and Home packages though as it can make one hell of a difference to your download speeds.

Evolution products are sold as unlimited with a peak time fair usage policy only, because of this traffic is managed meaning in my case that although my line is 6.5MB/s I get a maximum download speed of around 150kb/s per download thread. Use a download manager and you'll get better speeds as they use more threads per download if this is a consideration.

Home packages have a hard cap and are completely unmanaged other than contention ratios. This means that you will get the full bandwidth per 1 download that you're paying for (dependent on contention).

Thanks--I've gone for the evolution option 1 which with the special offer gives me a free router and the first month free.Unlimited downloads. 8Mbps speed, although my line wont do that and as much time online as I want. All for the princely sum of £14.99:j :T

I am fed up with Orange, and a friend of mine is delighted with Eclipse. I have posted in Techie and Albertross provided me with a link to a moan forum about Eclipse, where the main gripe seems to be slow speed. I have seen complaints about speeds of "only" 6mbp.

Personally I'd be happy with those speeds, as my both my laptops only handle between 2 and 2.5mbps anyway - which is quite fast for my purposes.

With Orange... well every few weeks I'm without broadband for a day or so - I'm on dialup at the moment because although bb connects me to OE and Window Messenger, it won't access the server to surf websites nor let me get on Live Messenger... And their callcentre is heaven knows where on the planet, so I have to keep asking them to repeat their waffle...
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

I've been using Eclipse for over 2 years now - generally very satisfied. A few glitches (but none of the nightmares I have heard from other providers).

My daughter set up Eclipse in a shared student house about 2 months ago - £9.99 for 1st 6 mths then £14.99 (12 mth contract) with free modem - the cheapest Eclipse deal at the time. They're very happy too.

I have been with Eclipse since April 2005 initially on a company package, but when I left the company I changed to Evolution 1 package for £14.99 and get 8Mbps rather than swop to a new ISP, you can also get calls for £5.99, which I'm thinking about taking up as I'm going to be working from home and using the phone all day.
