Lloyds TSB Premier Ac

Evening all,

I used to have (around 5 years ago) a Lloyds TSB Premier Banking account. Between changing jobs and the cost of the account I gave it up maybe 3 years ago.

I have read previous posts re these types of "fee accounts" but one thing I did like particularly was the premier banking phone service. Day or night I could talk to someone with no delay and it was always a personal service (i.e I could ring back next day and speak to X straight away) to me thats a service I'm prepared to pay for, amongst other things.

Now I've been looking online at the LTSB website, and although they still offer Premier there doesnt seem to be any mention of the Premier Banking Manager - dooes anyone know if they still exist?

  • Not in the way you think.
Everyone gets put through to a call centre now unless you have a branch/mobile number of your account manager.

I'm not sure but a lot of banks have 24 hour helplines. I wouldn't touch Lloyds with a bargepole really. You best o looking at First Direct or even Coop, number 1 and 2 for customer service as voted by Which? magazine.

Thanks for the speedy reply - I certainly take your comments on board. I bank with Lloyds TSB - have done for 10 years and I did always think the Premier Banking Managers were excellent - but the package seems to have been dilluted somewhat in terms of benefits I think....
  • I agree but you should not be paying for customer service at say £10pm when you have world class customer service elsewhere at banks which do not charge. I mean in the future it is hard to say as banks need to make money but whilst it is free, you may aswell take advantage. If you can service your own account via the internet or in branch, then you will have no problems at all. You will be paying for so called 'premier service' that you have not received and envisaging you will have a problem in the future.

I have been a premier account customer for a few years and I have hardly use the service - luckyly, however I lost my mobile phone and rung to put a claim. In fairness, I know I am not the most organised person - when I lost my mobile I rung my network provider and they calcelled the phone also rung Lloyds tsb a couple of days later and they told me I had to contact the police and that I had to fill in a form. This was back in January, by the time I had a second copy of the form was February - then they wanted more information that I provided.... then nothing happend I rung again - Oh we forgot to process your claim... Oh noh whe will process it . Yesterday I rung again only to be told that my claim has been decline - but I can appeal. This is ludicross. I dont feel that the service is what I signed for. I was expecting quick and easy.

Any ideas? I am seriously thinking of stoping the account

Lloyds will only deal with banking enquiries. The mobile phone insurance is through a third party so if they didn't handle it well enough, can't really blame Lloyds.

You can appeal the declined decision and write a complaint to Lloyds but doubt you will get anywhere with the latter.

A friend of mine has the Halifax reward account (not sure name) and she gets most of the deals of Lloyds tsb for 12.50 and a £5 on the account . I will change as this sounds a better value. Any thoughts.
