    Hi Always-Alone,

I`m a big fan of the Epicare threader used it for a few years now and would never use anything else ;)

Did try to be more MSE and bought one of the fake ones from ebay.. never again!!
Broke my face out in a terrible rash had to go to the doctor for cream:eek:

It`s basically a spring with handles on each end and you bend it and roll the handles inwards and outwards moving it over where you want to remove the hair,, it can smart a little above the top lip but gets easier the more you use it. If you look on the webpage there is a video that shows how it works epicare.co.uk

Could`nt be without it now it saves me a fortune!:j

Hi there - I'm a retired beauty therapist so here's a little tip I used to tell all my clients. If you find any kind of waxing or tweezing painful or uncomfortable take a couple of paracetamol about 30 minutes or so before your proceedure. It will take the edge of the discomfort.

Definitely recommend waxing - over time the hair regrowth will be finer.
  • My sister gets hers 'threaded' she lives in London and round the corner from her house a little asian lady does it for £2 out of her garage.
I pluck mines but it's getting worse so might try the threading.
  • Another vote for threading here, it grows back finer and doesn't irritate the skin like creams and waxing can.

I epilate. I do the rest of me with the epilator, and it only takes a second to whisk it over my top lip. It only hurts the first couple of times.

  • I bought an epicare a few months ago after reading about it on here. So far I have only managed to pull out a small number of hairs as it hurts so much.
Next time i will try the paracetamol trick to see if it helps.

    Hi Slinky-Malinky

I`ve found it works best if you press the epicare firmly onto your face and keep a little bit of pressure when rolling it,, if your using it for your top lip just push your tongue up under your lip and push outwards it makes the skin taught and does`nt sting as much.

You could also put and ice cube in a cloth and numb the area first;)

  • i stupidly shaved mine when i was a teen and now wax it myself every month or so. I know when to wax it when i stick my tounge out the side of my mouth and its a bit furry!!
  • Threading would be my tip - normally costs about £15 for me to get my eyebrows, top lip and chin done every four weeks or so. I used to get it waxed but then stopped, and then a threading place opened up near me so now I go there.

If it's really bad would you consider electrolysis? Not cheap but I used to have it a few years back and it did make a difference after a few months. (Do not get the pen one though, it hurts like no-one's business!)
