I'm sure the op didn't read 70 x 30 hours; that would be over 2 grand!

Mine is for thirty hours, and I was going to ask for more as my year runs to the end of September!

Have done some reading overnight (sleep, what sleep?), and it seems this area of support is not audited at all, probably why uni's are getting away with charging stupid rates for a poor service. I also contacted my uni to ask about arranging support myself, and was told that it had to be done through them. This contradicts several independent sources, so I have emailed the DSA bods for a definitive answer.
    Gone ... or have I?

your award letter should say if you can source the support yourself i think. i hadn't read mine properly, just assumed i had to go with the uni....and didn't due to issues of well-meaning tea and sympathy type people, and only discouvered about a year on that i could simply go elsewhere with the funds. i only found this out by stumbling across a thread on here about dyslexia support. i don't think the uni get a say in it?! having researched an alternative provider, all i have to do is send the invoices to DSA. I have 36 weeks so i am hoping that will just be up until September too :) but yes, could use more hours as a postgrad but think there is a limit

    good luck!
