I dont know if this is of any help at all but worth a thought if nobody has mentioned it so far.
I also dont know if this would be the cheapest option, but maybe it is the cheapeast option upfront....
I have a policy from my energy supplier, different levels of cover available one of the options is plumbing cover. I pay around £28 per month but that covers my heating system, electrics, plumbing, annual boiler service and some electrical appliances.
Dunno if there is a 'waiting' period between taking out the policy and being able to claim.
