Yes agreed but in the context of the mot pass?? Ok it may be of benefit to the op, but it is not an mot issue, agree??;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Bri it will be an issue if the EGR valve isn't working correctly.
It could fail the emissions/smoke test to be fair
EGR valves are the devil when it comes to diesel engines. I believe EGR failures are the most common cause for blown turbo's/enginesIf Adam and Eve were created first
.Does that mean we are all inbred0 -

Yes of course, I fully accept that, but a warning light alone, with the exception I mentioned, will not trigger an MOT failure in it's own right.;);)
And of course you don't ignore them unless you are savvy enough to realise what they are telling you and it's not urgentI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I found a link for cleaning the EGR on YouTube, there are several clips there.

I was wondering though, being a dummy, does the Diesel X help to clean it if it was put into the fuel tank?
EDA Oops really sorry there's a bit of swearing in that clip so you might want to choose another one to look atI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Should I be worried - my engine warning light on my Clio has been on for 4 years now.0

When you have a Peugeot you get use to warning lights coming on and going off all the time! The first time the engine management light came on in my car I took it to the garage, by the time I had driven there it had gone off again! They run the diagnostic machine on it and found nothing wrong. The light comes on every so often, then goes off again! Don't even get me started on the erratic headlights and indicators!0

Yes its a Clio.
Seriously, if it hasn't bothered you by now it might just be some good quality electrics. Sister's work car, brand new Laguna threw a fit after only 6 months and had most of its warning lights on. A dealer checked the car out and couldn't find a single fault but also couldn't turn the lights off.
Sent it back in the end though because if the light is always on it isn't possible for it to come on if there is a real fault. One of the Laguna's was the ABS warning even though the brakes were fine. You wouldn't want them to fail and not have a warning would you?
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0
