Does any one else suffer from Volvo time?
Hi
I drive a 2006 Volvo S40s (1.6 Petrol). You may guess that I have a bit of OCD about this but....
I set the Clock so that when the news comes on the radio the clock shows the exact time. But then a couple of weeks later the clock is a few minutes out. This has happened ever since i have owned the car (1 and half years). I was wondering does this happen to anybody else, or does anyone have any ideas what could be causing it??
As I say its not a big deal it just plays on my OCD!!
I thought maybe it had something to do with the clock stopping when I turned the key as the ignition used some of the juice - but I have nothing to base that on...
Any theories??
Pete

Are you sure your own watch is correct? is it set to GMT?
It's becoming common these days for clocks to auto adjust themselves by radio to GMT, your car might have this "feature".
Your theory on the clock stopping when you start the car would be valid, but it would only happen if your battery was on it's last legs.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

LOL Good point! I'll have to check that out! The only worrying thing is that if that is the case I'll have to find a new radio station to listen to

A friend had a similar issue and ended up sticking a cheap digital clock, set to "radio" time over the one on the dash.0

Have the exact same problem in my Mini, and it's a digital clock!0

Wonder if this is why Volvo driver's think they have all the time in world? :rotfl:

How would your watch and car clock being out be due to the timezone they are set to? If they both show the same time to start with, and then show a different time by a few minutes, it's nothing to do with timezones. Even if I had my watch set to EST, it should still keep time with the car, just with different hours...0 -

I wasn't talking about time zones, I was talking about clocks that adjust themselves automatically.
If you manually set your watch to 10:30am when the GMT atomic clock is actually 10:33am and then you adjust your clock to your watch, but a week later the clock sets itself to GMT time. It's going to look as though it's wrong because you manually set your watch wrong in the first place......“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

oh our old car does this! A few months after resetting to the pips on Radio 4, it is "out" (slow) by about 10 minutes. But then oddly, it doesn't go "out" any further no matter how long you leave it?! don't understand! But at least I am always early for everything!0

Either try setting it with the R2 pips or set it 10 mins early

Oh right, GMT doesn't have an atomic clock as such, it's a timezone. The MSF radio time signal sends out UTC time.0
