Not sure why this person is even using the forum, 24 posts in less than 24 hours, none of which make any sense.

From when I was in the trade the generally accepted situation was that if you sold more than 3 or 4 cars then trading standards took an interest, as those that try and pretend to be private sellers aren't just doing so to avoid the attentions of the HMRC.

A lot of these part time traders actually used private sales to sell on wrong-uns, and would use Loot as the private ads where free, a lot of these same people now sell through Gumtree and eBay.

I found this with some searching, but there's definitely something about this on the TAX side which states only 1 car can be sold privately.

Additionally if his home is rented or leasehold, the lease will contain a clause which gives right of eviction for using the property as a place of business.

You have mis-read it or not understood it..
But new laws make it illegal for one person to sell two cars or more on the same stretch of road.

No where on that link does it state your only allowed to sell one car a year

Nit picking a bit there.... Selling from home would mean the same stretch of road, unless you move house every time you've sold two cars???

Is it not two cars at the same time?

Two cars AS A TRADER. The article is about traders. Not private sellers v traders.

Trader is simply a term used, the article makes no differentiation between either.

    To sell is to trade.

    To sell is to trade.

Therefore every private sale is a trade sale by your logic, is it not?

    To sell is to trade.

So every time you sell your car, you declare it to the taxman?

No...... The article says "trader" in the context of someone selling a car, not in the context of an official business trader.

There are various and multiple reasons why you can't run a business like that from a residential property.

The idea is clearly to tackle the anti-social behaviour of some numpty parking and trying to sell some 20 cars outside their house.

I recently bought a car from a man. I paid 1000 and on the way home the engine blew up. It did state no mechanical faults and 100 % reliable on ad. Also the v5 wasn't in his name and he just gave me the whole form. Any help please?
