Anyone have any experience of this. Do they do any kind of "deals"? Or will I most likely have to pay the £35 * 11?

Just looking for some advice, not snarky comments :) Thank you!

Correct on the £35 x 11. You should get VAT off and they may give you a small 2-5% discount but thats all.

However only Orange can confiirm exactly what you'll pay.

Ok thank you, I did read on another forum that someone got £5 off line rental, if I cancel it, does that mean I can't use it at all right? What about transferring it to another name?

Orange will allow a 'customer account transfer' as long as the other person can pass the credit check. You both need to be there when you call. Explain what you want to do and pass the call over. They'' take the other persons info and do a credit check. If they pass that, then Orange will transfer the acc over. . .

You can put it in another name, and change the DD over. But if they default or run up bills, won't the original contract holder still be liable?

Not if it's transferred over as suggested. It's then the other persons contract and they are wholly liable.

OK. If that's done, does it start a new 12 or 18m contract, or just run on?

Cancelling does that, you pay the fee and the line goes dead.

Depending on your contract you may be able to phone up and get a reduction, but that depends on the contract length, spend and who you get. If you get a reduction of say a fiver then want to cancel that won't be considered, it won't then be £30 x 11 it would be the contract price so still £35 x 11 as a base

Cancellation early means you don't pay the VAT, so you'd pay £29.79 x how many months left in your case, worked out on a daily basis. You may also get a discount on top of that, but that depends on the plan you are on.

    Hope that helps.
I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂
  • Each calculation is done on an individual basis as they work out how much they've had from you over the course of your contract. If you've been paying £100 a month for your calls then they have made money out of you and the cancellation charges are less. If you've only ever used your free bits you can expect to pay more.

The only way to know is to phone.
