Yes you do, you claimed that you could make the same meal for half the cost, it was part if the basis of your ridiculous claim that the deal is a con.

So, list the ingredients and prices that you are paying to make this same meal for £1.89. The reason that you refuse to is that you are lying, unless you want to prove me wrong...would be very happy to be proven wrong because we can take you advice and make this bargain Spag Bol you have made bold claims about.

My opinion i am entitled to it. I don't need to prove anything, this is not hotukdeals for goodness sake!

And yes tifa if i seen an ad for a meal deal and the picture had cheese on it would expect the cheese to be included.

So why start a topic about it on the forum and make claims you refuse to substantiate?

I make my own pasta sauce and my own garlic bread.... ok maybe not for half the price but the mince on the asda ad is the fat laden stuff which i wouldn't touch with a bargepole.

And to those who said i use low quality items actually no don't as i shop in sainsbury's tyvm.

And if i knew how to post a pic of the meal on the asda website which shows the meal covered with cheese therein the lies the con because the meal deal doesn't include cheese!

Sainsbury mince is unlikely to be cheaper than ASDA (well more than a few pence different per kg) and if your going to a leaner meat than ASDA. ITs likely to cost even more than ASDA.
    With out checking jS website.
British minced beef of 12% fat of less is going to be £2:00 + per 500g pack. So we are already passed the half price mark.

JS pasta again will be a similar price to asda for same size pack if not on offer.
As you make your own sauce. Even tinned tomotoes for the cheap ones are around 33p? a tin. By the time you have added herbs and spices this will make this a bit more.
Thus your main place your saving money on the sauce and making your own garlic bread.

Can you post a pic of the meal with cheese on as I can not see how this is advertised other than on the link you gave me. Not everyone likes cheese so the meal shown is a good meal.

    Target price £1.89

So the stuff you've priced comes to about £1.30.

That leaves you 59p to buy a pound of lean mince from a butcher and a tin of Rolls Royce tomatoes.

    Doesn't sound very likely

The only way I would think this is a con is if they do a price per person, but you have to buy huge amounts to achieve this. So if you need to buy 1kg of pasta but then only use half of it, for example. We could all say "go to wholesaler and buy everything", but whilst it might be cheaper overall there's a huge initial cost. Asda haven't done this, so Asda isn't the con...

So you can go buy a splash of olive oil, a single tablespoon of tom puree, a single Oxo cube?

Your basis for your claim is already having bulk bought the ingredients, which is an invalid comparison really.

For anyone who doesn't happen to have a cupboard full of the right ingredients, it will be cheaper to buy what they need from Asda and make it as seen, or they will have to pay considerably more to buy whole packets/tubes and bottles of the component parts.

Of course bulk buying works out cheaper in the long run, but as advertised it is a good price, with or without cheese.

And as already stated, your maths seems very dubious :rotfl: Give me the name of that butcher selling lean mince at less than 59p per pound, less enough to leave you change for that unpriced tin of tomatoes, I want to drive up and stock up :p
