Cancelled my contract with T-mobile......

yet charged because I didn`t use my PAC code
Hi,
Sure others will have fallen into a similar trap, but here goes. Thanks anyone in advance for listening to me and offering advice.
This seems utterly rediculous;
On 26/12/2010 I gave within my rights a months`s notice to end my contract with T mobile. I had three numbers and asked for the PAC codes for all which duly came stating I had 30 days to transfer to another povider or continue to be with Tmobile. No problem.
Having cancelled and had a final bill, I looked online to find that I am being charged for one of the numbers as I did not redeem the PAC code with another provider. Despite stating that I no longer had access to the phone, they would not waive the charges and now I have had to give my notice again and the third number will hopefully end on the 8th March.
I honestly thought that since I had cancelled the account that when the 30 days expired the number would go obselete and my account closed. TMobile say this is standard industry practise, but can they do this given my circumstances and what can I do to challenge it if anything? I have complained to OFFCOM by phone but not sure that will get me anywhere. Not to mention the cost of an 02 number!
The "transfer number request" makes no reference to a number not being transferred and what applies then.
Thanks if anyone has any good ideas.

Asking for a pac code isn't the same as asking for the acc to be closed. If the pac's not used the acc continues. Many people don't use their pac codes and would be rightly annoyed if the network they were with just disconnected them.
If you ask for a contract to end then after 30 days it will and you lose your number.
If you ask for a pac the acc continues until you use it or it expires.
You can ask for one or the other but not both. . .0 -
Jon01 was right.
If you dont use your pac in 30days its as good as you never served a notice to end the contract.
Unfortunately there is not much you can do but to pay.0 -
30 days i'm afraid.0

You answered your own post. You totally ignored the (correct) information you were given and are now complaining about the consequences of ignoring what you were told?0
