hi , i downsized to another house in cardiff in 2006, and wanted all the doors and windows replaced , i contacted every double glazing advertiser in yellow pages for a quote and a survey ( around about 45 companies ! ).... they ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous !!! one national company originally quoted £18000 !!! ( although they later came down to £6000 ! ) beware of companies that quote one price but then conveniently add on vat ! i went for best quality and value not just price, but in the end Anglian did me a deal that was just £200 above the cheapest quote with much better quality materials, a higher insulation and glass spec and a national known company with a 10 year guarantee! even better when the surveyor did the survey he recommended 4 windows had multiple openings at no extra cost ( saving £400 minimum on the cheapest quote ) and all windows and french doors have ventilators at no extra cost ! ( the cheapest quote was £50 per vent a saving of £800 !!! ) the work was done in march and all went well the quality was even better than i anticipated, great front door ( you get a wide choice ) the french doors are the best i've seen ! one hiccup i had new window cills fitted and 2 of them were marked... i phoned up and next week 2 new ones were fitted ! in december the french doors needed adjusting and the front letterbox had jammed open ( junk mail ! ) it took 2 weeks wait but a fitter fixed the doors and fitted a new letterbox so the after sales service seems to work ! i'm really pleased with the product and would definately go with anglian again ( i have no links with them except for being a well satisfied customer !!! ) PS... you need to haggle !!!!
