do iqualify for job seekers allowance

I wasmade reduntant on the 30/11/210 i receive an occupational pension my wife works 27 hours a week can i claim contribuatory based JSA on my wifes contributions.

    You cannot claim JSA on the basis of your wife's N.I. contributions.
    If you are below state pension age and actively jobhunting you can claim JSA. You will get contribution based if you have paid enough N.I. contributions in the relevant years. If not, you can be income-assessed which would take into consideration your household income (inc your wife's salary) and your savings.
    It may be worth claiming whether or not you'll get money as you'll get N.I. contributions paid on your behalf.

    You can claim CB JSA on your own NICs but your pension will affect it. You certainly can't claim on your wife's!

    the first £50 a week of your pension is ignored then deducted £ for £ from any JSA you are entitled to
  • Thanks for the replies I have enough NI contributions and an occupational pension of approx £120 per week so is it not worth wile signing on.
