Car Insurance

Morning :)

I've been checking car insurance and it comes up the cheapest with Bell/Admiral/Diamond (part of the same group)

From experience which one is best to go through if that makes any difference? I know it sounds like a silly question.
They're all the same price. I'm guessing it's going to be exactly the same but wondered if anyone had any tips!
I'm a young lady of 23 (24 in afew weeks, but before my cover starts)

I was checking on go compare and then compare the market - entered exactly the same details yet one is showing almost £200 cheaper than the other for the same companies.. ?

Thanks in advance,

  • The problem with insurance is you will not know if the company is any good until you make a claim.

Claims experience seems to vary, I've read a couple of poor reports recently about Admiral, but someone will be along in a minute to say they had good service from the company.

In the absence of any other information, I don't think it matters which quote you accept.

I've heard good things about Admiral, never used them though.

By the way, might be worth getting a quote from Elephant, part of the Admiral/Bell group (didn't know about Diamand), might be cheaper.
What is pi? Where did it come from?

Thank you. I guess i'm just wanting to see if there's a reason for me not to go ahead as it's the best price i've had by quite a bit compared to other providers! :o

Elephant are a little more. I wouldn't personally go with them as they mis-sold my first policy to me 5 years ago, got a refund in the end but weren't keen on their customer service at all.

Don't forget cashback sites, such as Quidco, my wife's car renewal came through for £370, can't remember who with, did some quotes through quidco/go compare etc (earnt £2 cashback in doing so!) then tried Aviva, they were £270, but also have £70 cashback, so came in at £199.99, down from £370, may not be the best insurer for you, but cashback sites are worth using (yes I know the cashback is not guaranteed)

    No reason at all.

I would be wary of a company I'd never heard of, but the Admiral Group, or whatever it's called, is an established, mainstream insurer.

I was with Admiral for yuears, then in early 2008 my car was stolen and not recovered, they where fine about it and I was paid out a good price, actually a very good price.

Then in Dec 2009 a bloke ran into the side of the wife, it was near premium renewal and they wan't to double the renewal premium until the calim was settled, we didn't claim but used their non fault repair scheme, the garage took ages to fix the car, then damaged it, then repaired that, then one of their drivers smoked in it and left his fags and ash in the car.

The increased premium was the final straw, if it wasn't for that I would still be with them.

They also refused to allow me to protect my NCB until after the second claim was sorted, even though non fault, this would then be unprtected for the entire policy year.

I am still tempted to go back to them as the multicar policy isa good idea and we used it for 2 years.
  • I got a quote from Admiral and Diamond and they are the same, except with Diamond you get the £300 handbag cover.
Lady on the phone said that they are exactly the same, one can't beat the other etc. So they pretty much are the same. (I don't get why there's two providers for the same company?! Seems silly.)

Anyone know if customer services for them is actually the same but they answer the phone differently etc?

I'm with Elephant at the moment.
