Hi,

I am trying to save up for an Iphone so considering to switch to PAYG.

Can someone please post the best value PAYG sim for a £5 top up.

Also are there PAYG sims that have a roll over system.

Thanks in advance

What do you actually want for you £5?

You're unlikely to find a "cheapest £5 top up" as it will always cost £5. The question is what can you do with that £5?

There are the no-frills value tariffs from Tesco/Asda/Talkmobile/GiffGaff
    Calls 8p per minute
    Texts 4p each
This is not bundle-based so credit doesn't need to roll over, it just stays there until you use it.

Then there are PAYG rewards/bundles available for a £5 top up.

Talkmobile offers 25p/min calls and 10p/min texts but free unlimited texts for 7 days when you top up £5. T-mobile offer the same, but on a monthly basis with £10 top up.

Orange monkey offers 25 free text messages for 1 month when you top up £5, 20p/min calls and 10p texts.

Giffgaff, Orange Monkey, O2 simplicity PAYG and Orange Dolphin all offer unlimited texting for £5 (note this is buying a bundle (ie using the £5 top up), not a "free" top up reward).

Then there is the £5.10/month contract from TalkTalk - 50 minutes and 50 texts included. 24 month contract and VERY EXPENSIVE if you go over the allowance, so probably best avoided. Free basic phone.

    Talkmobile's 30 day SIM-only for £5.11 offers 100 minutes 100 texts and 100MB of data. Another possibility.

Or something along the lines of a Vodafone £10/month SIM only via Quidco.com which pays £50 cashback, so costing a total of £70 for 12 months for 300 minutes and unlimited texts (£5.83 per month).

All depends what your usage will be whilst you're trying to save. PAYG will work best if you need something that stops you for using your phone if you've hit your budget. Otehrwise, better value can usually be found SIM-only.

Giffgaff, 8p per text and 4p per minute for calls.

What do you mean by roll over? Your credit wont expire at the end of the month on any PAYG network.

Thanks alot for your comments. I should have been more precise about my needs.

I call my wife the mostly who is on T mobile and land line numbers on weekdays and during 9.00 am to 7.00 pm. On average my calls are around 150 per month.I text around 250 a month.

However from most of your posts I have got my answer.
