well its so the mot guy can see it was him that did it last year. Why should he need to know that, the MOT should be objective not subjective. I feel this gives him a sense of mild relaxation that he is not now checking over an unknown shed. As above. He last saw it a year ago, it could be a right shed by now. Also, he can copy the vin and other details straight off the old cert knowing that he did it last year it'll be fine. He should take it from the car not rely on a possible mistake from a previous year.
Also, I always take my car for mot before the other runs out, so he will need to see the expiry date to add it on to the new one.Not any more, the computer will do it automatically.0 -
well, I shall continue to take it. The first thing the tester does is pick it up and have a good read and take it into his office. My car has passed the last 4 in a row so I'm not going to change my ways now.0

You really need a new MOT tester. Is he so lazy that he is not properly identifying the car from its numbers, not the ones on last years sheet?
Anyway OP, as said above, all you need is car and cash and do yourself a favour, make sure the car is clean and tidy, mobile ashtrays give the wrong impression! Best of luck.0
