I've been using The FX Firm for transfers to France - their Euro rates are very good.

Are they trustworthy? I've made some medium size transfers through them with no problems, so I would say yes. Could they go bankrupt while holding your money? Yes, that is always a risk. If you want to minimise the risk you'll need to stay with one of the major banks and pay a correspondingly larger fee.
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning

Halo Financial are good. You and they both settle on the spot date (T+2) so the only time they hold your money is intraday, not overnight.
  • Is a credit card not an option?
    .....

  • Has anyone ever used travel fx 31-33 college road harrow for changing currency? We are worried because we clicked the buy now option without realising that there was no secure online payment. If we now cancel the transaction they are threatening a £50 surcharge if they agree to cancell! If not it could go up to £500 all sounds dodgy to me. The website is travelfx.co.uk/index.php (Missing the http:// ) this is very similar to another currency converter we found travel-fx.co.uk (missing the http:// www).

    Thanks

Not used them, but they do state cancellation fees up front...From their website

    Can I cancel an order?
Orders once placed cannot be cancelled. If under exceptional circumstances you contact us and we agree to terminate your order you will be required to pay a £50.00 cancellation fee which you will agree to in our Terms and Conditions prior to placing your order. This fee will be reduced to £25.00 if received and cleared within 14 days of cancellation.

In any event, if your concern is no secure payments online, and you have already made the payment, then I'm not sure what you would gain from cancelling?
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • No1 Currency do bank to bank transfers if that's what you're looking for. :) Just google for the link.
  • Hi thanks for the reply, i havent paid any money yet, just ordered the euros, I am just worried about paying these guys our money. How do I know its safe?
