Firstly, I'm going to wait until March when, hopefully, some bright new 'deals' might hit the streets.
I will certainly not be fixing for 4 years. Far too long for my own comfort zone, especially since we are 90% certain of a Base Rate Rise sometime soon. And when we see the first, I am personally convinced it will keep going up 0.25 at a time.
Trouble is, that's just 'opinion' and I could well have egg on my face.0 -
If there's nowt better than todays rates I'll be putting my cash bit in.... shares.0

Cash part will be joining the share part as always.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

Same here. Never had a cash ISA and 2011 isn't going to be the year to start!
I'd be very wary of any long term fixes when rates are likely to increase this year.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
I will be topping up my Halifax Reward ISA. When I start my job I will most probably open up Satander First Home Saver thing.
Not going to use S&S ISA unless I still have leftover money but I will be using my savings to most probably use as a house deposit.0 -
We have too much in cash which is rapidly losing value vs. inflation. Accordingly, we are targetting putting all future ISA money into S&S. Obviously, should circumstances change, we will reconsider our options. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0

I'm another person who has enough cash, so will be putting mine into S&S ISA.
The amount in cash from previous years finishes a one year deal fairly soon, and I am tempted with the M&S 3 yr fix. The penalty for early withdrawal is a flat £100, which equates to a couple of months interest which isn't too bad....I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.0 -
Those who are putting it in stocks and shares ISA - is this fund managed by yourselves or a tracker style ISA?
I'm starting to build a bit of excess cash that I'm looking to 'invest'. Not an awful lot, but a couple of grand for now. Have enough saved in standard, no risk accounts and would like to be a little more adventurous. It's obviously not enough to start a portfolio (I'm doing this with a demo account to learn the ropes) so am thinking that tracker fund is the way to go.0 -

Very few of us manage our own funds - although plenty of people buy their own, individual shares
If (as I suspect), you're talking about trackers vs managed funds, I have some of each.
I'll be transferring in £5k or so into a cash ISA from our instant access 'emergency fund' to get the favourable tax treatment, our actual savings from salary will be going into a mix of funds and Zopa.0 -

Mine is in shares - 10 different companies at the moment, including smaller/riskier stuff.
My pension has the steady eddy funds.I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.0
