Apologies if this has already been mentioned. I was looking on the CAB website for something else and notice that you now have to insure your car even if you're not useing it on the road and it is sitting on you drive, unles it has SORN. I don't recall having seen that anywhere.

Please can you supply a link?
Here is a DirectGov page that says...From early 2011 a new scheme is being introduced to make sure that all vehicles stay insured or a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN) is made. The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) are working together to reduce the number of uninsured drivers.0 -
Sorry I don't know how to do a link but if you google CAB Advice Guide it's on there.0

not in force (yet)0

Its confusing though as its quoted on the new tax disc reminders. Yet it doesn't give a date on them just early 2011!

But as usual for CAB they haven't said its not yet in force!0 -
May cut down on the people who insure tiny group 1 hatchbacks and run turbocharged hot hatches they
could not afford to run if they insured it properly.
May also cut down on the posts on here where people ask about having accidents in other peoples cars
that are not insured. I doubt it will affect the real criminal element that insure many drivers and sell cars on
every few weeks when its known to the police.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Ok, I've found it.

They do say...All vehicles kept off-road must be insured - In England
New rules mean it's now an offence to keep a vehicle off a public road without insurance. This applies even if your vehicle is parked in your driveway.
