And people did not say stupid things that caused enormous rifts before the Internet.0 -

Who remembers when X Factor was just Roman suncream?0 -
Was just having a mooch around on the freebies board and am surprised by how many freebies you get now if you sign up to companies on FB.
now im not sure whether these are one where you just 'Like' them or proper apps where you have to allow them your details.. Thats ripe for hacking and or mis use of your information yet it seems loads of people are doing it willy nilly.."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -

You choose your privacy settings and you choose your FB friends. You can control who sees what you post.POPPYOSCAR wrote: »Yes of course they did but the difference now is that the world and his wife can see it.0 -
Facebook may be a tool, a mere process in which to maintain, obtain and/or re-obtain contact with people but a dangerous one for a multitude of reasons and we're niaive to think we absolutely control the tool. Perhaps to a certain extent, yes but the majority of us are guilty when it comes to not reading T&Cs and when changes occur to these such as privacy settings. The first you know of a privacy setting change is some kind friend who has indeed posted it as their status.
Anyway, I digress. It's dangerous because you have to know exactly what control and how you control your profile. If, like many, you are limited in this area you leave yourself wide open. Basic human trust plays a part aswell as ignorance.
I'm sure we've all received an email/text/message where we have been unable to read the tone and perhaps take in a not so great way?
Many seek out long lost loves, absent parents or friends only to feel emotionally rejected and distraught not because we couldn't control our profile but because this tool has provided us with the ability to seek out individuals.
My apologies if I've rambled but I noticed a virtual hunt and thought I'd fight for the underfox

Facebook is fine as long as you use it properly, dont lick any suspect links, dont tell everyone where you live, dont leave the settings so anyone can look at your page, its not that hard to do correctly, it just requires some common sense but if you dont have common sense then stay away from it0
