Went to Chiquito in Leicester square in London.. we didnt want to pay service charge as we knew it was optional..and hadnt been satified with the service..but they didnt tell us that.. they said it was £5 per person! We were only a group of 3... but they had written GRACIAS right over the word optional!! Terrible place. Only went there as a friend likes it there and it was her birthday. Something I ate disagreed with me and I was sick right on the table. Nightmare! Sorry a bit off topic because not a toptable deal or anything like that.. I just thought i'd mention it because they are service charge sinners in my book!

This post illustrates the point of this thread. For the poster who questioned what purpose it served, Just what is so difificult about understanding that most restaurnt users do not want to pay an automatic service charge. If you dont think the thread is relevant to you, then dont read it,-simple.
