Cheaper to fly from UK or abroad

Hi,
I am looking for a holiday for this summer (June). I am currently touring around Europe and will remain to be then. My question is whether it would be cheaper to find holiday deals from local airports or get a budget flight back to London?
A lot of the holiday sites presume you are flying from UK. Are there any English based ones that will give fair fare prices from Europe?
Thanks for any suggestions

Ideally Vienna / Bratislava / Budapest area. Unsure of destination yet but likely to be lon haul (USA / Asia / etc)0

I would think that Asia should be cheaper from south europe but dont think there will be a lot of difference to USA. Plus you have to factor in the flight back to London0

It is well worth checking out good https://www.skyscanner.co.uk with some pretend cenarios."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

When we go to NZ we fly from UK for less than half the price from France. Friends do the same for Middle East flights. However some destinations are cheaper from France, North Africa for example. So when you know where you want to go from/to the internet is your money saving friend.0

Been looking at this a while - although I have found sites that offer a flight or hotel or in some cases both it works out almost twice as expensive as the package deals from the UK.
I know that packages are cheap because they bundle it all together and to be honest this is qwhat we are looking for. I cannot find a site that offers package holidays from european airports.
Does anyone know of one?0 -

Where flights from the UK are slightly more expensive if you want to travel cheaper from closer to home Aer Lingus offer very cheap flights to New York and Boston from Dublin. It is worth looking at Ryanair flights from Europe to Dublin then onwards with Aer Lingus Long Haul.Shirley

Yes, this can work out much cheaper as it avoids British APD, but just be aware
a) If the Ryaniar flight is delayed/cancelled then you are screwed
b) Take into account the checked luggage costs/restrictions on Ryaniar.
Also consider conencting through AMS on a proper KLM feeder service so that your bags will be transferred for you.0 -

There is another VERY useful "perk" flying to the USA from the Irish Republic in that you clear US Immigration before you board the aircraft - no long queues to wait in at the other end - just collect your bags and go !0
