Mis-sold contract

I got a HTC Desire HD on a 24 month contract with Vodafone from Tesco last week. When i signed up to the contract i was told i would get 600 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited internet. Today i recieved a welcome letter from Vodafone and on this it states i will only be recieving 500mb (which i have almost used in 6 days). Where do i stand here, as the only reason i got this contract was for the unlimited internet use.

Unfortunately, unlimited doesn't really mean unlimited.
Only Giffgaff and 3 offer truly unlimited data, everyone else puts a "fair" usage policy (usually referred to as a FUP) on their tariffs.0 -

I see, but when i was going through the tariffs with the person from Tesco he offered me 500mb/1gig/unlimited, with me opting for the unlimited. Its not really fair that im getting 500mb when i didnt want that and still paying the tariff with unlimited data.0 -
Problem is that unlimited does not mean unlimited .
Law says mobile companies are entitled to apply FUP .
However the salesman i am sure knows what the restrictions are on the unlimited data .
Teco not Vodaphone have misold you a product offering 500mb 1gb and unlimited . The buyer would presume that the unlimited especially if a higher cost would be larger than the 500mb offered .

Out of interest did they quote different prices to you for the different limits ???It's not just about the money0

Complain to Tesco and see what they can do for you. If you ordered over the phone then there may be a record of the sales call which would confirm you were offered a choice of data packages and opted for the one described by the salesman as unlimited.
As others have said unlimited rarely means unlimited and you need to check the Fair Use Policy for your network. Personally I have no idea why they are allowed to describe something as unlimited when it isn't, particularly as the definition of unlimited varies between provider.0 -
Your still within the 14 days return policy, i would go back to point of sale and if you get no joy give them the contract back0

No he did not, probably because i only asked what mobile data packages they provided. He said they did 500mb/1gig/unlimited but i didnt ask the price of the first two as i was interested in unlimited.0 -

I didnt phone, i went into the store. When i bought the contract it was just me and the salesperson, but he could easily just say he never said it was unlimited, i cant really win here.0 -

I think it depends on what you want to do !
As already stated most networks now are on a FUP with the exception of Giffgaff and 3, unless you want to go on one of those networks you will be in the same position whichever supplier you useIt's not just about the money0
