Our access to athens goes via our intranet site - we need to get access to the library site first and then Athens as we don't have individual user id's anymore!!!
The library site keeps being sporadic at the minute.
Also our subscription doesn't give us access to all the economic stuff I need as it's primarily Tourism, Marketing, Sports, culinary and hospitality stuff we do here.
I may pop up to Birmingham Uni to have a look there as I have my UKL card - Just don't have borrowing rights with that tho' so loads of photocopying to be done.Noli nothis permittere te terere

First part of the question
Key Issues:
The single currency, increase in european trade, new trade laws between EU countries, quality standards perhaps, regulation of goods (the vitamin/supplement ban etc)
More migration from and to EU countries, more diversified culture, business opportunities due to more varied demands in different countries, need for new business policy and imigration/working policy
New EU countries will see more wealth as a result of joining the EU, higher property prices, land prices, food etc etc, inflation, income, living standards, take about the multiplier effect, all sorts of policies will be needed to deal with the vast economic changes in these countries
Less barriers to/from EU countries, the development of new EU countries, could make them more popular destinations for holiday makers, likewise, if incomes of workers in those countries are going up they make take more holidays themselves in the more developed EU countries, tourism > income injection = multiplier
Second part is quite straightforward, you could probably do this as you go along, obviously the key issue to get accross is that tourism will be effected due to the points you have already mentioned in the first part, look for evidence and examples of this already happening in other countries, look for links between how much money people earn, and how many holidays they take, is this likely to affect them, there will be cases for and against, some might decide they can afford to go elsewhere, some might not be effected, holidays is a tricky one, it can be argued income inelastic, more of a preference thing for a lot of people. Certainly one would think it would increase leisure and tourism, but to what extent is debatable, plenty to talk about.0 -

I'm looking at the big picture before I go onto the Tourism part of the questions -
i.e. Global Economic trends:
what is Globalisation, very hard to define as it is concerned with so many different elements - business/economic, political, legal, cultural
what are the global trends at the minute? relocation of manufacturing to far east is a big one, also the new countries moving into the EU, rise in global trade and increase in MNEs - multi national enterprise, I.E. Tesco expanding into Thailand etc
trade barriers and the effect of tariffs on the rest of the world,
outsourcing contracts etc. in general globalisation is lowering trade barriers, more outsourcing, acqusitions..0 -
Might find something starting here.

if not too late now. Or maybe that odd extra thing that gets extra cred?Sorry my posts so long - not time write shorter ones.0 -
Thanks tedbloke I handed it in yesterday - lol.
They will be interesting for later as I have to lead a seminar in the New Year, on the Welfare state, the right to leisure and general EU suiff on working time directives and leave etc.Noli nothis permittere te terere
