how is my broadband working.

I'm very confused. LAst year I cancelled all my tv, phone line and broadband with sky to get a good deal off them and then re instated everything exept the phone line.
Since then I have had broadband running fine on my computer , laptop etc until this saturday when everything went off. On calling sky today they informed me (took 1.5hours on call) that i've had no broadband with them since last year (not on bill - result). They couldn't explain why and i would have to jpin again to get it. I declined and was about to source a new provider when my broadband has come back on . So basically i seem to be receiving the facility but not paying and sky annot trace me ..........anyone clver out there that can maybe shine a bit of light on this xx

Where/what does your broadband modem connect to .
A PC via Ethernet Cable B Via Wireless and then you should have some form of phone line going into the modem .Connection goes to BT box just inside your master socket . Then phone line charges due to BT or other service provider for line service .

Sorry, but you can't have 'reinstated everything except the phone line'. No line rental = no phone line active = no ADSL broadband.
So if you reinstated the broadband and it was working, you must have had a working line as well.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • sorry, meant to say I took my phone line to bt so i have an active phone line with them and my broadband (i thought ) was with Sky.

It looks pretty clear to me that post #2 nailed it.

If a wired connection to the Sky router works I'll be very surprised. I'd even be surprised if it doesn't continue working with the Sky router powered down.

Are you paying Sky for calls as well as TV?? If so, you are probably getting free Sky B/Band which could be why it doesn't appear on the bill??
