Moulting combs any good

I am constantly loosing the battle of the dog hairs on the carpet, and sick of trying to find the perfect vacuum cleaner. The solution seems to be to stop so much hair getting on the carpet in the first place.
The other day in Pets at Home I saw this
http://www.petsathome.com/shop/moult-master-grooming-tool-by-mikki-15612?cm_re=barilliance-_-up%20sell-_-product%20details
and wondered if it was any good.
It has positive reviews but only four of them so ther could be lots of disatisfied owners who havent bothered to leave feedback.
Can anyone recomend them or something similar.
They seem quite expensive for a dog comb but if they work a lot cheaper than replacing my vacuum cleaner.
Thanks,
PS two dogs, one german shepherd / border collie cross, one terrier/labrador/ your guess is as good as mine cross.
The GS/ BC cross had lots of undercoat which sheds ALL the time the other tend to be more seasonal but when he sheds, he sheds!

Have you tried a furminator? I use one for my cats and the amount of fur that comes out is amazing! My dog doesn't seem to lose a lot of fur so I just use a normal brush on him.Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0

Furminators - pretty cheap on Amazon.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

Another vote for Furminator here - for both cats and dogs.
Amazon had those on sale recently...
Oh, mine is a long haired GS so... I feel for you
Furminator does the job, no other brush ever did...
You want the one for large dogs:
It is £10.57

Thank you all, have just placed order on Amazon £10.57 so can afford to try it at that price. Watch this space for feedback.0

It might be too late now as you've already ordered one, but we have this great brush thing for our dog, a shedding blade, it's like a serrated metal strip, if you look on google there are pictures. It's great for removing loose hair, and it's really quick to clean all the hair out of it, much easier than a brush.0

Nothing beats the Furminator

We use one of these http://www.petmeds.co.uk/p-2916-ancol-ergo-shedding-blade.aspx (£4.53 + delivery unless you combine it with other products to take you to free delivery) We have border terriers and it is excellent for removing loose hair as Humphrey10 above has already suggested. You just need to be careful over areas of loose skin (such as nape of neck - where you just hold it taut)0

I do sympathise - my hoover gave up the ghost a month after we got the dog (collie/german shepherd/something else cross we think so not a shorthaired chappy)!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

another vote for the furminator. I just bought one for my black lab, i think i got nearly a carrier bag worth of hair in about 5 mins of brushing, and this was 2 weeks after a professional grooming.0

Another vote for Furminators off Amazon. We could have made a spare dog with what we got out of our Beardie cross the first time (and I thought he was fairly well groomed before we started!)0
