don't think any trams are running at the moment but i'm not 100% sure on that as i dont use them

No trams were running when we went, they are replacing the lines (we think). There was work in place heading Cleveleys way.

For anyone wanting outlet shopping id reccomend Freeport shopping village at Fleetwood. What you can do is do Fleetwood market then just down the road go to the shopping village.
Also just remembered in Coral Island they have meal deals. Its 2 adult meals, 2 Childs meals (child aged 12 or under) and off the top of my head its around £8.50, so that makes cheap dining and the meals are ok too.

There are no trams running at the minute as the track is being reinforced ready for the arrival of the "supertrams" later on. The rest of the work on the prom is the installation of the "comedy carpet" and the building of the wedding venue.

For anyone going to Fleetwood the little museum there is good for a poke about as is Farmer Parrs Farm thingamy.

In terms of food in Blackpool itself the Nandos and Pizza Express are opening soon, near the Town Hall there's a nice place called "Toast" it's not cheaper than cheap but it's not expensive, the food is nice and the staff are lovely.

Anyone looking for nice shops and so on should head to Lytham, there are quite a lot of independent shops there as well as some nice places to eat.
  • oh dear... I have always wanted to go to Blackpool, so my daughters have paid for myself and my husband to go there in March, staying in the Big Blue Hotel.... :(

Sounds like we are going to be disspointed :(

You won't be disappointed with Big Blue, it's lovely and the bit of the prom down that end of the town is finished and looks lovely. There are lots of bits of public art there that are just great (especially the glitterball). If you're going at the start of March there's an interesting exhibition at the Grundy Gallery called Orbitecture. The zoo is open. Marton Mere is good if you like birds and having a tramp about, wildlife and all that. If the weather's not too bad the beach is still great.

There is still plenty to do but the front is not looking its best just now!

    Afternoon all

Im heading down to Blackpool this weekend. 2 Adults 3 kids 11/9/7

Staying at either Premier Inn or Travel Lodge cant remember lol. Very good deal for the 5 of us albeit it one room lol.

Total was only £132 including breakfast at the attached restaurant. ie adults buy 1 and 2 kids eat free.

Any how was wondering what else we could do, think Sat will be taken up at Pleasure Beach (anyone know of any discount vouchers) I know i can get it online for £58 for 1 adult and three kids which is the cheapest I have seen. (I dont partake LOL)

So probably free on friday and sunday if anyone got any good ideas for this time of year.

    many thanks

If you shop in Tesco you can use the vouchers on the ferries (Belfast/Larne- Stranraer) this is quite a saving. It's about a 4 hour drive from Stranraer. There is also Belfast- Liverpool this is a much longer ferry journey but saves on the driving and in nice weather is almost a mini cruise.

Without doing the sums these may be cheaper than flying (assuming that you have a car).
